18 year old singer-songwriter-turned-producer Phoebe Robinson is set to release double A-side single ‘Daytime TV/From The Ash’ for free download on the 9th April via London-based independent label Foof Records.
The North Walsham musician caught the attention of BBC Introducing at BBC Radio Norfolk and was subsequently given plays by Lauren Laverne on 6 Music and Huw Stephens on Radio 1. Phoebe started out as a folk singer-songwriter with the acoustic-orientated ‘Blackbird’s Tongue’ single and the self-released 2014 EP ‘For Now’. She has supported the likes of Marika Hackman, Fiona Bevan and Kal Levelle on tour.

With this new double A-side, she demonstrates her growth as an artist, adding electronic sounds and bass to her music- elements she recreates in her live shows. She says she was inspired by artists such as FKA Twigs and Bjork to produce her own material. The instrumentals on both tracks sound as if they could be taken from the soundtrack of a super-tense thriller film.
Atmospheric electronics are contrasted with a rolling bassline in first track Daytime TV. With sounds reminiscent of Spector’s ‘Cocktail Party’ and vocals similar to those of The XX’s Romy Madley Croft, it will send shivers up your spine. An accompanying video will be released this Saturday (26th March).
The double A-side almost seamlessly transitions into From The Ash, but swapping the bassline for a jangly riff. The haunting vocals of Blackbird’s Tongue are back in this one with lyrics like “When you kiss me, I almost believe in God”.
